Datar Dalia Dal is made by taking garbanzo beans (also known as chickpeas, Kabuli chana or Bengal gram), removing the shell and splitting them in half. The resulting lentil is roasted, giving it a deeper taste and texture. Dalia dal can be made into a khichdi which is a perfect one-dish meal made by adding various vegetables making it more nutritious or it can be cooked just by itself giving an earthy and nutty flavour.
